I£®Sichuan University

        Sichuan University is a key comprehensive university directly under the State Ministry of Education. It incorporated three key universities, namely, the former Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Science & Technology (CUST) and West China University of Medical Sciences (WCUMS).
        The University is situated in Chengdu, the Capital of Sichuan Province. Chengdu, known as the Land of Abundance, is famous for its rich culture and history. Sichuan University constitutes three campuses---Wang Jiang, Huaxi and Jiang¡¯an, which is now in construction, with an area of 417 hectares. The campuses are set in agreeable environments of green plants, lawns and beautiful flowers. Over more than 100 years of development, the University has laid a sound foundation for and has built a high reputation in academic research and learning.
        Now the school offers courses in 9 major fields of study including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and technology and medical sciences. It has a total of 12000 faculties, including over 900 professors, 5 academicians of the Academia Sinica and the Academy of Engineering of China, 10 members of the State Council Academic Degree Committee and 328 tutors of doctorate students. The number of students at school reaches 42000, including 27000-odd undergraduates, 5700-odd graduates and 300-odd overseas students.
        The University will further its reform and development, inherit and continue its tradition of ¡°veracity and creativity¡±, so as to make itself a first-class and internationally acknowledged univerdity.

II£®Requirements & Qualifications

  • Undergraduates: With a high school diploma and a health certificate. Study 4 to 5 years.

  • Master-degree Candidates: With a bachelor degree certificate, qualified in the Chinese Examination, or those who have at least two years working experience in related specialty after university graduation, recommended by two professors and approved to be qualified by the university. A health certificate is required. Study for 3 years

  • Doctoral-degree Candidates: With the Master¡¯s degree certificate, qualified in the Chinese Doctoral Candidate Entrance Examination, or recommended by two professors, approved to be qualified by the university. A health certificate is required. Study for 3 years.

  • Visiting Scholars: With a certificate equal to or above a university sophomore, to study the original specialty in China. Study for 1-2 years

  • Senior Scholars: Associate professor or above, specializing in a certain field of studies. Study for 1 year.

  • Short-term Studies: With a high-school diploma and a health certificate.

  • Medical internship: With a recommendation from a medical school and a health certificate. Usually study for 4 weeks.

    III. Application & Admission Procedures

  • Fill in Application For Foreigners Wishing To Study In China (in Chinese or English).

  • Replica of the last formal schooling record and of the school report (translated into Chinese or English).

  • Undergraduates must have a recommendation letter from their sponsoring organization or people. Postgraduates must have two recommendation letters from their professors or associate professors.

  • Replica of notarized health checkup record (should be valid for 6 months), the students will take the original manuscript.

  • Self-paying applicants must have a guarantor who signs the Guarantor Form.

  • The academic year begins in the autumn. The process of applying for autumn enrollment begins in February and ends in June.

  • Undergraduate applicants must be good in their senior middle school.

  • All the applicants must take the Chinese language test. To be an undergraduate or a postgraduate, the applicant¡¯s Chinese language level should reach the 4th grade (HSK). Otherwise he or she needs another one or two years to study Chinese first.

  • Students who have received the acceptance letter and Form JW202 or JW201 should show the two documents to the Chinese embassy in their countries in order to get an X-status visa.

  • New students should have ready ten pieces of passport¨Csized photo, the completed ¡°Health Certificate¡±, Form JW202 and the acceptance letter of Sichuan University for registration on the registration date shown in the acceptance letter.

    V. Short Term Studies:

  • Enrollment:

            To meet the needs of those foreigners who intend to have their electives or learn something about Traditional Chinese Medicine and culture and scenery spots, We offers them short-term classes. University students or personnel from any institutions and organizations are all welcome. The training specialty, time and duration can be discussed through direct contact with the Office of International Affairs, Sichuan University:

    VI. Accommodation & Food:

  • Facilities

            The Overseas Students Apartment Building in Sichuan University has a housing capacity of about 300 guests. A single room is USD6.5 per day, equipped with a color TV set, furniture, washroom, telephone and air-conditioner. A double room is USD8.00 for two persons, which is similarly equipped as the single room.

  • Food

            There are a few Dining Halls on campus. It is up to the overseas students to choose where to dine. Food cost about USD80 per month in average.

  • Other Facilities

            On the campus there are also a university hospital, post office, small shops, banking offices and telecommunication station, etc. offering a variety of conveniences to students. The University is located in the downtown of Chengdu with easy access to the Shuangliu International Airport and the Railway Station as well as all corners of the city.
